Meet our Summer Intern: Andie Martin
Meet our summer intern, Andie Martin, from Saginaw Valley State University. Majoring in Accounting and originally from New Boston, MI, she chose ShindelRock after experiencing the firm’s welcoming atmosphere and the rare opportunity to work one-on-one with team members on meaningful projects.
She looks forward to gaining hands-on experience in bookkeeping, tax preparation, and client work. With plans to stay in Michigan and pursue her CPA, she’s excited to build a strong foundation in public accounting and is passionate about helping individuals and businesses make smart financial decisions through her love of numbers and problem-solving.
Q: What do you expect to work on during your internship at ShindelRock? What do you hope to come away with at the end of the season?
A: During my internship I expect to gain experience in areas like bookkeeping, tax preparation, and client projects. By the end of the season, I hope to build a strong foundation in public accounting.
Q: What drew you to study accounting, and what makes you excited about the profession?
A: When I took my first accounting course it clicked for me. The structure and logic of accounting came easy to me, especially while balancing school and traveling for golf. What excites me the most about accounting is that this profession plays such a key role in helping people and businesses make smart financial decisions. I enjoy working with numbers and solving problems.
Q: What is your background, college/major and graduation plans, etc.?
A: I’m from New Boston, Michigan, and currently a fifth-year student athlete at Saginaw Valley State University, majoring in accounting, andam part of the women’s golf team. After graduation, I plan to stay in Michigan and work at an accounting firm for a couple of years to gain experience and meet the requirements to sit for the CPA exam.
