What are you doing during your internship at ShindelRock? What do you hope to come away with in May?
Learning how a CPA Firm operates, preparing taxes for individuals and businesses, helping with general office tasks.
What do you love about public accounting, what drew you to the profession and keeps you here?
I love to help people! Plus, it is challenging, never boring, and public accounting deals with a variety of industries.
How did you choose ShidelRock, and what characteristics of a good place to work did you see in ShindelRock and the people?
It was a happy accident! I was not planning on applying to firms that were located more than 30 miles from my home. However, as I was leaving an MICPA business career fair, I ran into Dana Cinquepalmi (Senior Manager at ShindelRock). She was there to represent ShindelRock, which is about 40 miles away from home. Dana talked about a company culture that included all the qualities I was seeking in a firm – a family environment with, honest, hard-working individuals who just want to help their clients. After meeting the rest of the team here, choosing ShindelRock was an easy decision.
What is your background, education etc.
In April of 2018 I will have my Master’s degree in accountancy, and plan to take the CPA after my education is complete. Previously, I had an opportunity to intern at the IRS Criminal Investigation Division, Detroit field office. It was a fantastic experience.
