Visualize how the government spends your tax dollars
DataViz Challenge is a collaberation between Eyebeam and Google (with data provided by ) to find a way to help taxpayers to visually understand just where you tax dollars ar going. Click here for an example of a visual representation. This visualization alone gives you a great understanding of just how much national defense and security costs as well as how much goes to interest.
Here’s a related graphic done by NPR’s Planet Money team that shows who are the largest holders of US debt. On a side note, for those of you who listen to podcasts, I would highly recommend the Planet Money podcast. They put out a podcast twice a week where they are able to bring the world of economics to you in a simple and straightforward way. They are able to do it in a way that makes it enjoyable and engaging. It is very well done.
