SR Client Question: Do I need to refile my unemployment claim to receive extended benefits?

[1]The newly passed COVID-19 Relief Bill [2] offers extended federal unemployment benefits for states like Michigan [3].  It appears, at least at this time, that recipients currently receiving unemployment benefits do NOT need to refile to be eligible for the extension.  There may be a delay [4] for some recipients in getting their benefits until the Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) can get the federal extension implemented into their system.  Recipients those should watch their Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) account for more details.

Note that those laid off after 12/31/20 will only be eligible for 20 weeks, whereas those laid off in 2020 are legible for 26 weeks, but the Michigan Legislature may still change that [5].
