Holiday pay can be used to reduce unemployment benefits

Holiday [1]Coming off the Labor Day holiday, it’s important to note that the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) notes that payments like vacation pay, holiday pay, or bonus pay may be used to reduce a worker’s unemployment benefits.  To ensure claimants receive the correct amount of benefits, employers show report to the UIC the gross amount of the holiday or vacation pay and the period to which it is allocated.  Employers can now notify the UIA about such special payments via electronic file submission through a new feature in Michigan Web Account Manager.  If you have questions about filing these notifications, please contact a ShindelRock professional.
