check in mailSome of our clients have received an erroneous IRS notice assessing a penalty for the tax period ended June 30, 2016.  The notification will indicate “Failure to make a proper federal tax deposit penalty” or “Your Federal Tax Deposit wasn’t submitted correctly”.

The issue was a result of a programming error within the IRS whereby the federal payroll tax deposit due date was not properly adjusted for the Memorial Day Holiday of Monday, May 30, within their system. No action is required by you at this time.

The IRS is aware of their issue and is correcting the matter. If you receive this notice, you are advised not to pay.
